8.1

     A couple of quick announcements:
          1. Our Olympic Lifting cycle ends this week. (...and this is a deload week)
Some of you have made some pretty significant PRs and we want to hear about them.
We will have an opportunity for you to post your new PRs at the end of this week.
If any of you have experiences you would like to share with the Team,
we would love to review them and post them.
          2. A Full month of Muscle up 1 Goat Work is up on the site.
Pull up, Dip, HSPU 1, and Pistol 1 will be live soon as well.
Please continue to seek and destroy your weaknesses.
          3. If you have not registered for the CFOKC In House Oly Meet...Do It

          4. AOK 3 sign up is Monday Aug 4th.
It will absolutely not be anything near a scaled competition.
               It will be heavy
It will require high level CF gymnastic and barbell movements
          5. If you haven't seen the results you have wanted to see...
or you are frustrated with your progress, read this below:
          6. Read below

We are 7 Weeks and 1 day in. What have you been doing for 7 weeks? This is not a rhetorical question. This is not an accusation in the form of a question. This is a serious attempt to get you to reflect on what you have been doing for 7 weeks.

Do you take rest days? What do your rest days look like? Are you packing more programming than you should into one day? Are you doing this in an attempt to "catch up"? Are you allowing yourself to be coached and redirected daily? Are you respecting the opinions of coaches that view movements differently than you? Are you working on your weaknesses? Are you managing your time and effort in a way that allows you to attack your weaknesses? Have you skipped leg day? No, seriously Broseph/Babe-raham, have you skipped leg day? Are you cheating your percentages? Are you subbing in extra work? Did you set one or two specific goals for this cycle? Have you been attacking these goals during this cycle? Are you challenging yourself daily? Are you doing the same work as your peers (for comparison sake)? What is your diet like?

     Those were rhetorical questions.

Think about what this Competitor Team is for you and what you are for it.

Our goal is to send 2 teams to the North Central Regional. Our Goal is to send 1 team to the Crossfit Games. Our goal is to send a podium quality team the the Crossfit Games. Our Goal is to continue a Legacy...and start a Dynasty.

Your goal may be to be on one of those teams. Your goal may be to compete at the Games. Your goal may be to leave scaled weights and movements behind and Rx every WOD. Whatever your goal is, we are glad you are a part of this.

Now you have three options: stay focused, get focused, or refocus.

Drew snatched 290# on Sunday. NBD.  Look out 300#, the DHM is coming for you.

  3. Oh Janet,

I've gotta be honest -- this whole lifting competition does nothing but scare me (I don't want to embarrass myself or let myself/anyone down blah blah blah). And this blog post was a good wake up call (read: I need to do whatever I need to do and get my butt on the rig to practice kip/hollow body. My baby hands excuse is doing nothing positive for me...) Anyway, I am not going to turn this into a real "dear diary", because that would just be weird.

SNATCH: 2 @ 65#, 1 @ 75%, 3x1 @ 85# (failed last attempt). These aren't exact percentages prescribed. I've been really focusing on snatch form this week and am determined to get it solid so I can (hopefully) make mad gainz. Working with Loreen on Sunday and Drew yesterday and today has been really eye opening and helpful. And that Coaches Eye video Steve sent me... well, that just confirms I need to do some empty barbell technique work!

C&J: 1+1 @ 100#, 1+1 @ 110#... ran out of time for the 1+1 @ 115#. Self-reflection: I need to work on front squat more to get comfortable coming out of the hole with more than 115#. It would also help if I'd stop muscle cleaning so I could actually lift some big girl weight, but that will come eventually. Clean pulls and snatch work. That is my life.

CLEAN PULLS: 2 @ 135#, 2x2 @ 155# (Drew and Bryan saved the day with some wrap things that made picking up the bar much nicer for my hands).Looking forward to the day when I can actually clean these weights...

CLASS WOD: 2 rd. + 600m run in the time cap (finished the run but not T2B). Let's be real: running and T2B are 2 of my least favorite things, and I seriously thought about just not doing the WOD for that reason. However, I just made it a personal goal to not walk during the run and to make every T2B rep count. I did both, so in that sense, I feel accomplished. ...always something to work on :)

COMP WOD: 5:37 w/ 3/4 pood unbroken (I rested the KB on my shoulders after 5 reps of S2OH in rounds 3 and 4 but didn't put them down. I'm counting it.) I considered using 1/2 pood but thought I should challenge myself. I'm glad I did.

EXTRA: Handstands all of the time. I'm getting better, so that's neat.

  4. OLY STRENGTH1. Snatch
Worked my way up from 65# focusing on technique with Adam's help. The Steve Miller video revealed I start with my hips too low in relation to my knees so we had to work on my starting point.
Worked up to 95#s this is where I start losing my technique so stayed at this weight. Also did some snatch pulls to make contact with the bar between reps.

    2. Clean & Jerk
    1+1 @ 120,
    1+1 @ 130
    1+1 @ 140
